Clan Farquharson Gathering
July and August 2009

Well, what a year this is going to be.

Our Chief, Captain Farquharson, is going to celebrate his 90th birthday on the 1st May.

Finzean, the home of our Vice-Presidents Angus and Alison Farquharson and their families, is celebrating its 400th.
Robert Burns, the iconic Scottish poet, has his 250th anniversary.

And the Scottish tourist board has created the Edinburgh Gathering and ‘Homecoming 2009’ which is encouraging Scots from overseas to visit Scotland.
We are celebrating all the anniversaries and Clan Farquharson has brought forward its 2009 Gathering a couple of weeks so visitors can take in both the Edinburgh activities and our traditional Gathering on Deeside. This means we will not be in full force at the Ballater Games or Victoria Week but the Clan tent will still be there as a focus for those who attend.

We will be off to Balmoral Castle, Braemar Castle, and Aboyne Castle. We have three dinners planned in a week. The Clan Ceilidh will be in full swing. We will have a full presence at the Aboyne Games and will be joining Finzean for their 400th Anniversary. Please see the full diary.  
We are inviting Clan friends from around the World with large groups coming from Canada, Australia and America. We will guarantee them a warm welcome and memorable visit.

There is a lot to book so please help by replying ASAP and certainly no later than the 15th June. I anticipate some events may well be oversubscribed and whilst we will try to fit in all those who want to come if may necessary to allocate spaces on a first replied basis.

Braemar Gathering
Always the first Saturday in September. Our Chief is a Vice-Patron and the Queen is Patron. Clan Farquharson have a display table in the overseas tent where we have members on hand to give information on the Clan and to generate more interest.

Ballater Games
Always the second Thursday in August. Our Chief is the Patron of the Games. Clan Farquharson have our own tent where our members can meet for a picnic and a drink. We are also on hand to give information on the Clan and to generate more interest.
